Machine builders are increasingly having to deal with certification bodies such as OSHA, TÜV Rheinland, and TÜV SÜD. Machine design is riddled with competing requirements. On one hand there is increasing pressure from End Users to deliver safer products at a faster pace. On the other hand End Users are looking to minimize product defects and product waste, while maintaining a safe work environment. Additionally machines have to allow IIOT access without compromising safety or performance requirements. This talk will address the types of microprocessor technologies and network architectures needed to meet these competing requirements.
