Open Source Industrial Ethernet with Controller Redundancy


An Industrial Ethernet protocol allows to deterministically exchange process data in real time. POWERLINK is the only hard real-time Industrial Ethernet protocol available in Open Source for both, Master and Slave configurations. It is based on standard Ethernet and therefore runs on any kind of hardware and software platform.

Controller Redundancy

The backbone for critical automation processes is an extremely reliable network. The reliability of such a real-time network strongly depends on the availability of the main controller. Using one or more hot-standby systems (controller redundancy) guarantees low down-times for the automation process. The POWERLINK protocol provides the according necessary mechanisms and is therefore perfectly fitting for high-availability real-time applications.
